Tending Our Bodies ~ Herbs & Health

Michelle’s work as a gardener led her into an in-depth exploration of nutrition and health.  Over the years Michelle has studied Western Herbalism with Kami McBride and Ayuvedic medicine with Candis Cantin and DeAnna Batdorff.  She has also studied Weston A. Price’s work on the relationship between nutrition and physical health. Michelle is available to share her knowledge of western herbalism, medicine making, food as medicine and pre-conception consulting for improved infant health. She also teaches classes on Weston Price and how to turn weeds into allies and resources.

Medicine Making

Have you ever wondered what herbal remedies could be harvested right out of your garden?  Learn to recognize our herbal allies and   become empowered to make herbal alcohol and vinegar-based tinctures, oils and salves and more from the plants growing in your neighborhood. Organize a workshop or do an individual consultation with Michelle. She will help you take the mystery out of tending to your health.

Food as Medicine

Are you ready to cultivate a new relationship with what you eat and your health?  Ancient healing systems have always known that your gut is the seat of your health.  It is time for us all to realize that our food is our greatest medicine. Michelle can support you with a diet inventory, simple changes in food choices and cooking techniques, and offer tasty recipes that can lead you to improved health. You will feel better and find a delicious way to stay healthy.

Re-imaging the World of Weeds

Would you like to have a different relationship with the weeds in your garden? So often what we call weeds are the food and medicine that we need the most for our health. You can join Michelle in her passion to explore this misunderstood part of the plant world and shift your perspective about "weeds."  Michelle can help you identify the plants and inspire you with delicious weed pesto’s, salads, and medicine making.  It will change how your view of your garden and landscape.

Pre-conception Consulting

Are you thinking of having a baby and want to make healthy choices?  In traditional societies both parents would prepare for conception 3 to 6 months in advance, to ensure their child's healthy development.  Weston Price’s research demonstrates that a healthy diet for both parents is critical to having a healthy baby and that many of the processed foods we consume today are not helpful and often can create inter-generational deficiencies. Michelle has consulted with couples planning a pregnancy that will support their health and the health of the baby.

Reflections

I so enjoyed meeting Michelle, What a bright Light with so much Passion, Wisdom & the knowledge she has acquired over many Moons, with various plants, with the amazing healing Properties.

It really was a joy to be part of the Circle of Woman that was present. I liked how Michelle, gathered us in groups of 5, so we all had an intimate time with the plant in front of us.. tell our story about our connection with the plant & take a little time to draw this nurturing, healing plant.

My first experience of making herbal Salves... I am so happy Michelle whipped up the the herbal ingredients, for the Lotion. Since I have been using the Lotion on my hands. I see a remarkable difference, in just a few days. - Lenore

"When I took your course Healing Through Food, Gardening, Herbs and Ceremony workshop, I was working as a nurse, but also questioning the health care system and the care being provided. As I left your workshop I knew I wanted to help people in a different way. I found a School of Herbal Studies and knew I had found my way of healing. I not only learned so much about helping others heal but I also began to become aware of how to heal myself. I want to thank you so much for all the knowledge and awareness I gained in your workshop. I also became very interested in Weston Price's teachings and consider Nourishing Traditions one of my food bibles. I am going to make a batch of sauerkraut today."                          ~ Laura Mayer, Founder, Backyard Harvest Mobil Herbal Clinic

"I was fortunate to meet Michelle when I signed up for her class Healing Through Foods, Gardening, Herbs and Ceremony at OAEC in 2011. The three days we spent together had a deep impact in my life, and I have grown and transformed my world since. I stayed in touch with Michelle and was able to work with her one-on-one on internal conflicts I needed help resolving. Michelle showed me the way to get in touch with feelings that had been locked deep inside, and walked me through being present with them, understanding them, and letting go of the ones that no longer reflect my reality. She has enriched my life, and I wish everyone could get a chance to spend time with Michelle and feel for themselves the wisdom and love she brings to everything she does."                                                                                                      ~ Thais Harris, Nutrition Education Manager, Ceres Community Project
